Description

DD film is a high contrast daylight duplicating film for production of high density duplicates of halftone separations and linework.

Safelights

Handle film under subdued white or high illumination yellow lighting at least 4 feet (1.2 meters) from the film surface until processed.

Storage

Keep unexposed film and processed film in a cool, dry place. Process film as soon as possible after exposure.

 
Exposure

Exposure Source

• Multilevel high-intensity, metal-halide 1000 to1500 watt exposure source (for higher intensity exposure sources, a light attenuator may be necessary)

Exposure Suggestions

• Exposure for best dot reproduction varies with lamp, lamp distance and processing combinations. ­For uniform light distribution with open contact frames, follow the manufacturer's recommendations for lamp height adjustment. ­Starting exposure recommendation: 5 to 20 seconds at 36 to 60 inches from exposure plane.
• Through-the-base exposures require less than twice emulsion-to-emulsion exposures
• For more even illumination across the exposure plane and reduced lightangularity, increase the distance between the light and the exposure plane. Adjust exposure time.

Spreads and Chokes

• Use a diffusion sheet over the glass of the contact frame for uniform spreads and chokes.
• Refer to the 3M Spreads and Chokes Guide (77-9802-9750-9) to best determine proper exposure.

 
Processing

DD film is best suited for rapid access processing. Refer to the container labels for mixing and other instructions regarding the processing chemicals.

Processing Recommendations

Before handling or using any chemical product, be sure to read the Material Safety Data Sheet for health hazard data, precautionary information and suggested first aid.

Use these recommendations as a starting point. For optimum results, use:

• RLD rapid laser developer (1:4)
• RLF rapid laser fix (1:6 or 1:5)
